To prevent further disturbances, a police team remains stationed in Khumujamba.

The incident underscores the ongoing tensions between the Meitei community and the Kuki-Zo tribes in Manipur.

Last year’s ethnic violence resulted in widespread property destruction across the state.

Currently, a fragile peace exists with Meiteis residing in the valley regions and Kuki-Zo tribes inhabiting the hills, with limited movement between these dominant territories.
