Imphal:  Manipur’s police commando force staged an “arms down strike” on Wednesday in protest against the attack on a senior officer.

The commandos, stationed in Imphal city, laid down their weapons and ceased duties at the Commando complex around 11 am.

Similar reports emerged from other locations across the state.

This action follows a violent incident on Tuesday night, where around 200 armed assailants attacked the residence of Additional Superintendent of Police Moirangthem Amit Singh in Imphal East district.

The attackers abducted Singh and one of his escorts, later releasing them in Imphal West.

Both officers received medical treatment for injuries sustained during the ordeal. Three individuals also suffered bullet wounds in the attack.

The motives behind the attack and the identity of the assailants remain unclear.
