Assam Manipur: Police detain 24 people attempting to occupy disputed area

Imphal: Manipur police seized a large quantity of illegal liquor on Wednesday in a significant bust against the illicit trade in Kakching.

The operation, conducted in the southern Kakching district, netted 90 plastic bags containing Distilled Indigenous Country (DIC) liquor, totalling 376 litres and valued at over Rs 25,000.

Acting on intelligence reports suggesting the transportation of DIC liquor from Andro village in Imphal East District to Kakching, a police team led by Superintendent of Police Thokchom Vikramjit Singh was deployed for surveillance.

Their vigilance paid off around 9 am on Wednesday when they stopped a suspicious mini truck vehicle equipped with a water tank.

Upon inspection, officers discovered the hidden cache of DIC liquor cleverly concealed within the water tank.

The driver of the vehicle, allegedly involved in the illegal liquor supply ring, was promptly arrested.

The arrested individual and the seized items, including the water tanker and pump generator, are currently in police custody at Kakching station. Legal proceedings are underway, with a case registered against the accused.
