Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh informed the state government’s plans to replace the diesel auto-rickshaws with e-rickshaws.

This has been thought about with an aim to minimise air and noise pollution in Imphal.

He said this while speaking at the Manipur Start-Up Conclave, 2019 in Imphal on Friday

MyGov Manipur was also launched by the CM on the occasion.

Singh also urged the banks to provide loans to those auto drivers who want to buy e-rickshaws and replace the diesel autos.

On August 31, 2019, Singh informed about introducing e-rickshaws in Imphal for curbing pollution.

“I am delighted to see the youths coming out with innovative ideas that would bring change in our society,” the CM said while speaking about the start-up projects of Manipur.

“Owing to insurgency Manipur has gone through a difficult period when our imagination and innovative ideas were curtailed,” he added.

The CM also praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Startup India’ initiative.

“Startup India initiative was taken up with the objective to build a strong start-up eco-system for nurturing innovation and entrepreneurship in the country,” Singh said.

“Similarly, the Manipur Start-Up has been initiated to provide the enabling eco-system to support and nurture startups in the region,” he added.

He also informed that the government would increase the budget for the ‘Manipur Start-up Scheme’.

“This year we have received 3966 applicants out of which 798 have been shortlisted,” further informed the CM.

“We should focus more on the tourism sector as Manipur tourism has a lot of potentials,” he further added.

Deputy CM Yumnam Joykumar Singh and several other cabinet ministers and MLAs also attended the function.
