Several organizations including the Jain Samaj, Agarwal Samaj, Punjabi Samaj and Sharma Samaj and staff of JNIMS hospital generously donated to Chief Minister’s Relief Fund to help the flood victims during the recent spates of flood occurred in different parts of the Manipur.

The amount was handed over to Chief Minister N Biren Singh in the presence of Lamlai MLA Ksh Biren Singh at a simple ceremony held at Chief Minister’s Secretariat on Wednesday.

Chief Minister expressed his profound gratitude to the donors for their generosity to help the flood affected people. Till date, the CMRF has received a sum of Rs 16.88 lakh from various organisations and individuals. Chief Minister had also received 500 numbers of 5 kg LPG cylinders worth Rs 6.82 lakh donated to CM’s Relief Fund recently.

Those organisations and individuals who wish to help the flood victims can also donate their monetary assistance by depositing to CMRF Account No 10329729753, SBI Imphal Secretariat Branch.

The flood in Manipur has so far affected about 1.92 lakh people in 360 villages under nine out of the state’s 16 districts. It has claimed nine lives, according to State Department of Relief and Disaster Management. The flood has also damaged 24,849 houses. About 50,372 people are taking shelter in 155 relief camps across the state. The deluge has also damaged 4,167 hectares of agricultural land too.

Chief Minister N Biren said that the state Government had submitted a preliminary report on flood to the Central Government. Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh has also reportedly assured that the Centre will extend necessary flood assistance for the affected people of Manipur.
