Manipur on a mission mode towards a self-sustainable economy: N Biren Singh

Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh on Wednesday chaired a meeting to enhance the development of the agriculture and allied sector in the state.

In a Facebook post, CM Biren wrote, “On mission mode towards the self-sustainable economy and to lift the state’s economy that has declined during the nationwide lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we need a serious and composite plan to develop Agriculture and allied sectors in the State.”

“Chaired a marathon meeting on the formulation of a Composite Plan for development of Agriculture, Horticulture sectors and other allied sectors in my office today, attended by Chief Secretary, Principal Secretaries, VC CAU, Dir CSIR, Professors from MU and HODs and other concerned officials of the State Government,” the CM further added.

“Four sub-committees have been formed including one to study Palm tree plantation in Manipur,” he informed.

A government official when contacted over the phone said that a couple of sub-committees were formed to enhance the rice production, horticulture crops apart from textiles and handlooms products.

The meeting also discussed the improvement of livestock production, the official said.
