Manipur: N-lab in Imphal institute to give a leg-up to technology start-ups

A Technology Business Incubator (TBI) styled as N-lab has started in the National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT), Imphal, in association with Jobsenz Pte Limited, Singapore, on Saturday. N-lab is the first TBI in Manipur and it is a big boost for technology start-ups of Manipur.

Informing this on his Twitter handle, Jagat Thoudam, Consultant, Manipur Startup Cell, said, “A Technology Business Incubator (TBI) styled as N-lab has started in NIELIT, Imphal in association with Jobsenz Pte Ltd., Singapore today. N-lab is the first TBI in Manipur and it is a big boost for technology start-ups of Manipur.”

The Government of Manipur has an ambitious start-up policy. The N Biren Singh Government is encouraging the youths to come forward and set up new enterprises with assured support from the Government. For growth of entrepreneurship in Manipur, smooth and time-bound decision on statutory compliances, seamless access to incentives and network of support for access to appropriate technology and a facilitative State apparatus is the need of the hour.

Realising the potential that today’s youths present, the Manipur Government has decided to facilitate development of a network that promotes entrepreneurship as a preferred career choice for students. The Government of Manipur envisages an enabling environment to address the aspirations of the youth and proposes to engage with all stakeholders and a network of appropriate funding agencies.

Chief Minister N Biren Singh had stated at the Manipur Startup Conclave, 2018 held in the month of August in Imphal that the start-up policy would nurture and encourage start-ups and entrepreneurs to create jobs and assist in the economic growth of the State. The policy is proposed to be implemented with a financial assistance of Rs 150 crore in the next five years. He hoped that more banks would extend their support to the entrepreneurs of the State.
