Lok Sabha MP Thangso Baite on Friday adopted Motbung village in Manipur’s Kangpokpi district as a model village under the Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana (SAGY) which is an initiative of Prime Minister Narendra Modi of the country.
The main motive of adopting model village is fulfilling the goals of education for all, healthcare for all, connectivity for all, power for all, immunization for all, water for all and banking for all. Later, the Motbung village authority also presented tokens of appreciation to the dignitaries.
In connection with the adoption of Motbung as a model village, an Empowered Committee Meeting for finalizing of Village Development Plan (VDP) was held at CC Hall of Motbung village under Saitu- Gamphazol sub-division in Kangpokpi district on Friday.
Speaking on the occasion, MP Thangso Baite said the concept of model village will be successful only if the different departments fulfill their responsibilities.
“Villagers should be mentally prepared and smart as their village will be considered as a model by their neighbouring villages. They should be modernized in their thinking, education, behaviour and activities”, he said.
He also urged the Deputy Commissioner, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Sub-Divisional Officers, Block Development Officers and District Level Officers to sit together frequently and take up necessary steps quickly. He also emphasized awareness of small issues of hygiene so that the villagers become well aware of it and also asked the district administration to co-operate with the villagers.
Under SAGY, Motbung, as a model village, will look to develop in eight different sectors including human resource, basic amenities and services, social security, economic development, personal, social, environment development and good governance.
Lok Sabha MP Thangso Baite, Saitu legislator Ngamthang Haokip, Chairman Sadar Hills Autonomous District Council Haokhalal Hangshing, Deputy Commissioner Kangpoki Dr Rangitabali Waikhom, Additional Deputy Commissioner Kangpokpi Hmangte Lerte Kom, Sub-Divisional Officer Saitu Gamphazol N Johnson Meetei, Motbung village chief Kaikhosei Lhouvum, Sub-Divisional Collectors and all District level officers of Kangpokpi attended the meeting.
