Manipur education, labour and employment minster Dr Thokchom Radhehsyam, who is the district in-charge of Thoubal and Kakching visited both the districts on Friday to take of the COVID-19 situation.

During the meeting the minister Dr Radhehsyam and district officials discussed the arrangements undertaken by the respective district administrations in view of the upcoming government programmes from April 20 onwards.

The meeting was held with the deputy commissioner of Thoubal and Kaching, superintendent of police of both the districts, chief medical officers, fire services, officials concerned and all essential service providers.

Minister Dr Radhehsyam said as per the announcements made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the farmers, farm workers, shops of agricultural machinery, plumber, carpenter, and electricians are some of the categories where relaxation is likely to be made.

Pointing out that the meeting discussed on ways to monitor and segregate the movements of people belonging to these professions once the relaxation is implemented, he added that several feedbacks were received and a plan for the districts will be developed soon.

He added that all the preparations will be arranged as per the guidelines of Government of India.

Since the nationwide lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the subsequent extension for 19 days till May 3, 2020, he said the primary task for the Government has been to make all necessary preparations ready to lessen the hardships faced by the public.

He explained that because of lockdown the movements of the public have already been restrainted and many daily wage earners and other labourers are unable to earn their daily livelihood.

He added that in view of the present situation it is necessary that the essential commodities are made available to the people.

Lauding the medical fraternity and police personnel who are carrying out their duty, the minister appealed them to be a little more sensitive and friendly towards the public.
