Manipur Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Minister Karam Shyam on Thursday arrived at his office riding a bicycle.
He also rode bicycle to the Chief Minster’s bungalow for a Cabinet meeting held in the afternoon.
Calling upon the people to use bicycles to save on fuel, Minister Shyam on November 27 had announced that he would pedal to his office from his official residence — less than one km apart — every Thursday.
“If people use bicycles, it will help improve the country’s economy also,” Shyam had said.
Opposition Congress, however, has called the minister’s act a ‘publicity stunt’.
