Imphal: A delegation from the Manipur Commission for Protection of Child Rights (MCPCR), led by chairperson Keisam Pradipkumar, met with governor Anusuiya Uikey at Raj Bhavan on Friday.

During the meeting, MCPCR representatives submitted a memorandum urging the implementation of the Manipur State Policy for Children 2020, and the establishment of regulatory guidelines for hostels in educational institutions.

They stated that the 2020 policy includes comprehensive structures and principles aimed at addressing the challenges faced by children affected by ethnic violence.

Additionally, the delegation highlighted the critical need for regulatory guidelines to prevent the rampant availability of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances in unregulated hostels and boarding facilities.

Manipur governor Uikey commended the MCPCR for its dedication to improving children’s welfare in Manipur.

She assured the delegation of her support and requested a detailed report on the conditions of children in various relief camps across both the valleys and hill districts.
