Manipur Assam: Suspected robber injured in police firing while attempting to flee in Kokrajhar

Imphal: The residence of a college principal in Manipur, was targeted for the second time in less than a month by unknown masked men armed with sophisticated weapons.

Dr Wahengbam Nimai, principal of Kamakhya Pemton College in Bishnupur was attacked for the second time but no one has claimed the responsibility for it yet.

The latest attack occurred on Tuesday night, with CCTV footage showing two individuals arriving on a scooter and firing five rounds at the principal’s house, located in Lairenjam Awang Leikai under Nambol police station.

Fortunately, no one was injured in the attack, which happened around 5:30 pm.

The police have registered a case and are investigating the incident.

This incident follows a similar attack on July 17, 2024, where a hand grenade was placed at the principal’s residential gate.

The police bomb detection and disposal squad safely disposed of the bomb.

No individual or outfit has claimed responsibility for the attacks.

In response, Khoisnam Anil, advisor of the Young Social Makers Club, Lairenjam, has urged those involved to refrain from such acts in residential areas and resolve issues through dialogue instead of violence.
