IMPHAL: A 65-year-old woman was allegedly murdered by her 26-year-old son in Imphal, Manipur on Tuesday night.
The deceased was a retired nurse at the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal.

The accused allegedly murdered his mother at their own residence in Sangaiprou Kabui, Imphal with a “butcher knife”.

The police said that the accused was identified as Sanjiv Das and the Deceased as Kamei Madhu.

Sanjiv is also reported to be an alleged drug abuser who had undergone treatment at a de-addiction centre about two years back.

Kamei Madhu has been staying at her maternal mother’s village Kabui Khul.
Sanjiv Das was arrested along with the weapon used in the crime and he is in judicial custody for further legal proceedings.
The body of the retired nurse is now lying at the RIMS mortuary for post-mortem, the police added.
