Imphal: Unknown assailants allegedly shot dead an abducted man in the Yaralpat wetland area under the jurisdiction of the Porompat Police Station in Imphal East, Manipur on Thursday morning.
The body of one Waikhom Sanatomba, 28, a resident of Kharasom Makha Leikai of the same district was found dead with two bullet injuries.

The body was first discovered by the morning walkers at around 5:30 am on Thursday.

Following an emergency report from the morning walkers, a team from the Porompat police station and forensic experts of the Manipur police rushed to the spot.

After being examined by the forensic experts, the body of W Sanatomba has been deposited at the JNIMS hospital for post-mortem.

Locals of Yaralpat village stated that at around 2 am on Thursday, there were sounds of three gunshots.
It appeared that the man was killed after being abducted from some other places, police said.
No group or individual has claimed responsibility for the killing so far.
Police said that they registered a case in this regard and an investigation is on.
