Priyanka Gotimayum was crowned first runner-up at the Miss Manipur 2017 beauty pageant.

Imphal: Manipur Police on Wednesday recovered a live grenade along with a threatening note from the residence of Priyanka Gotimayum, the first runner-up of the Miss Manipur 2017 beauty pageant, in Thoubal district.

According to police, the warning note read, We will give you a death sentence, Priyanka Gotimayum, and bore the name of the proscribed outfit Kangleipak Communist Party–People’s War Group (KCP-PWG).

Priyanka Gotimayum is a resident of Thoubal Kiyam Siphai Thong Ahanbi under Thoubal Police Station in southern Thoubal district.

After receiving information from the police headquarters in Imphal, a Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad rushed to the spot around 6 am. The area was cordoned off for about an hour, and the high-intensity explosive was safely recovered.

Police said the grenade was later disposed of at a secluded location in Thoubal district following standard operating procedures.

An investigation has been launched to ascertain the motive behind the threat, and a case has been registered in connection with the incident.

Priyanka Gotimayum was crowned first runner-up at the Miss Manipur 2017 contest held on December 9, 2017, at the Bishop’s Olive Academy Trust Palace (BOAT) Compound in Imphal. The title was won by Thounaojam Strela Luwang, while Konthoujam Mangal Chanu finished as second runner-up.
