Manipur has launched a full-fledged war against drugs under the leadership of Chief Minister N Biren Singh.

Continuing with the crusade against the menace of drug abuse on the State as launched by the BJP led government, huge quantity of drugs and related items were consigned to flames on Wednesday at Pungdongbam in Imphal East district of the State.

These contraband substances were seized by Narcotics and Affairs of Borders (NAB) and the Manipur Police with support from local civil society organizations and the general public.

Earlier, in another major haul, the Manipur Police has seized huge quantity of drugs worth around Rs 14.49 crore in the international market from Thoubal district, police sources said on Tuesday.

The Narcotics Affairs Border (NAB) of the Manipur Police seized the drugs from Lilong area in Thoubal district on September 19 and arrested three persons, the PRO of Manipur Police said in a statement.

The seized drugs included 4832 bottles of Ketamine, packed in vials of 30 ml each, it said.

The seized drugs were worth around Rs 14.49 crore in the international market, the statement said, adding further investigations were on.
