Guwahati: The Kuki Inpi Jiribam, Tamenglong & Noney (KIJTN) along with other Kuki organizations have strongly condemned a recent search operation conducted by security forces in Mongbung village in Manipur’s Jiribam.
The Kuki groups also include Kuki Chief Association, Tousem Block (KCA), Kuki Students’ Organization Jiri & Tamenglong, Kuki Inpi Women Wing alleged that the search, conducted jointly by central forces and Jiribam police, was carried out in an “uncivilized and inhumane” manner.

They claimed that security forces destroyed essential food supplies, including rice, potatoes, and lentils, which villagers had already faced difficulty acquiring due to a blockade imposed by Meitei groups.
The condemnation extends to questioning the timing of the operation. The statement highlights that the search occurred just hours after heavily armed Meitei militants attacked Mongbung and a neighboring village.
This, along with the alleged harassment of women and arrests of innocent youths during a previous operation in Phaitol village, suggests a potential “nexus” between security forces and the Meetei groups, according to the Kuki CSOs.

The statement demands the withdrawal of a specific Colonel and the punishment of those responsible for the Mongbung incident.
It warns that “any undesirable eventuality” arising from these events will be the sole responsibility of the district authorities, security agencies, and the state government.
