Imphal: A joint operation by Manipur Police and central security forces led to the arrest of an active cadre of the outlawed Kangleipak Communist Party – Military Council (Nongdrenkhomba) on Sunday.
The arrested cadre was involved in a large-scale extortion racket targeting residents near Loktak Lake in Bishnupur district.

Sagolshem Johnson Singh, a 30-year-old resident of Toubul village, was apprehended during a search and cordon operation in the area.
Security forces recovered a live round, a vehicle, eight mobile phones, four extortion demand letters bearing the KCP(MC)-Nongdrenkhomba insignia, Rs. 35,000 in cash, and other incriminating materials from his possession.
Singh has been handed over to the local police station for further investigation and legal proceedings.
