They identified the deceased as Rajkumar Prithibi Singh, a 30-year-old resident of Top Awang Leikai in Imphal East district.

According to the KCP-MC (Progressive), Singh was previously associated with them but later “acted against the party” and allegedly became involved in the drug trade.

This apparently led to his execution.

Manipur police recovered Singh’s body from a secluded location on Takhel Ngaram road under Lamlai Police Station on Saturday afternoon. The body was transported to the JNIMS hospital morgue in Imphal East.

The deceased’s mother, RK (O) Shakuntala Devi, expressed shock and outrage at the killing. She condemned the act and announced the formation of a Joint Action Committee (JAC) to protest the killing.

The JAC has vowed not to claim the body until their demands for justice are met.

Shakuntala Devi also revealed that her son had a previous brush with the law and was arrested by the police but later released.

She stated that he was attempting to rebuild his life when a sudden and violent event occurred. Singh is survived by his wife and two children.
