Imphal: Dr. Bhartendu Kumar Singh (IDAS) and Gaurav K Singh (IRS), appointed as Expenditure Observers for the 2-Outer Manipur (Reserved for Scheduled Tribes) Parliamentary Constituency by the Election Commission of India (ECI), visited Kangpokpi District on Tuesday in preparation for the upcoming 18th Lok Sabha Elections, 2024.
The district, predominantly inhabited by the Kuki community, will see polling at 166 regular polling stations and 24 special ones for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs).

Kangpokpi District comprises three assembly segments—46-Saikul (reserved for Scheduled Tribes), 50-Kangpokpi, and 51-Saitu (ST)—all falling within the 2-Outer Manipur (ST) Parliamentary Constituency, scheduled for the first phase of elections on April 19.
These segments collectively house a total of 1,03,563 eligible voters, comprising 51,184 males, 52,378 females, and 1 identified as Third Gender.
District Election Officer (DEO)/Deputy Commissioner (DC) Mahesh Chaudhari (IAS) and Superintendent of Police (SP) Manoj Prabhakar (IPS), along with the district team, extended a warm welcome to the visiting observers at the DC Office Complex.

During their visit, the observers engaged with DEO/DC Mahesh Chaudhari (IAS) and the entire district election team to ensure the seamless conduct of the elections in Kangpokpi District.
They also reviewed poll-related expenditures and other preparatory measures undertaken by the district, in coordination with the Election Expenditure Monitoring team.
