Manipur: Joint forces dismantle militant hideouts in Churachandpur

Imphal: The Indian Army, Border Security Forces (BSF), and state forces have destroyed two illegal temporary hideouts/bunkers in the Bunglon village of Churachandpur district, Manipur.

The hideouts, suspected to be used by armed miscreants, were demolished on Sunday.

A joint team from central and state forces launched a search operation based on specific intelligence, discovering the temporary hideouts.

A cache of arms and ammunition was recovered from the abandoned hideouts but did not result in any arrests.

This was the first time joint teams have carried out such an operation in the district since the Assam Rifles shifted to Jammu and Kashmir.

Chief Minister N Biren Singh took to social media to appreciate the efforts of the security forces, stating, “As a commitment to eradicating threats and maintaining stability in our state, the Army and Border Security Force (BSF) have successfully dismantled the Kuki militants’ bunkers in Bunglon. Let us cooperate with our security forces as we strive for a peaceful and secure future for all.”
