Manipur health and family welfare minister applauded the Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) hospital authority for serving COVID-19 pregnant women besides taking up delivery cases.

Confirming this, state health and family welfare minister Langpoklakpam Jayantakumar Singh on Sunday tweeted, “Commendable that JNIMS continues to serve COVID 19 positive pregnant women. 7 normal deliveries, one CS and one ectopic pregnancy rupture operation have been successfully conducted so far.”

Meanwhile, with 53 new recovered cases in the past 24 hours from five COVID care facilities, the recovery rate of the COVID -19 positive cases in Manipur has reached 69.35 per cent on Sunday.

So far 4,239 persons out of the state’s total COVID 19 positive cases (6,112) have recovered and been discharged from five COVID care centres in the state.

The COVID 19 Common Control Room in Imphal in a press release here on Sunday evening said, “The cumulative number of positive cases is 6,112.

The cumulative number of recovered cases is 4,239.

The number of active cases is 1,845. The recovery rate is 69.35 per cent.”

Meanwhile, the cumulative number of deaths due to COVID 19 and other co-morbid health conditions in the state remains at 28 as there is no report of new death on Sunday.

The State reported its first death due to COVID-19 on July 29.

Stating that 133 persons (73 male,60 female) from the general population and 30 from the Central Armed Police Force were confirmed positive in the past 24 hours in the state, it said adding that they are from Imphal West, Imphal East, Tengnoupal, Thoubal, Ukhrul, Kangpokpi, Senapati, Kakching, Bishnupur, Chandel and Churachandpur.

32 persons out of the general population are returnees from other States, while the rest 101 are locals without any significant travel history.

They are being shifted to COVID care facilities, it further added.

Under the sponsorship and guidance of health services directorate and national health mission, district administrations, Imphal West has started miking activities on COVID 19 preventive measures and penalties for violating the COVID 19 guidelines in the most affected areas of the district.
