Manipur: Insurgent arrested, arms recovered in Kakching

Imphal: The arrest of a cadre of an insurgent outfit involved in extortion activities led to the recovery of arms, ammunition, and explosives in southern Kakching, Manipur on Friday.

Following intelligence sources of collecting illegal monetary collection, the Manipur Police raided a location in Kakching district and arrested a cadre of the proscribed outfit Kangleipak Communist Party Nongdrenkhomba-(KCP-N).

The apprehended individual was identified as Wangkhem Sunil Singh @ Tomba (40 yrs) was involved in extortion activities in the Kakching area. 

Further, a joint team of the centre and state forces conducted operations at Wangjing Khunou foothills of the same district.

The combined team recovered one INSAS Rifle with a magazine loaded with 11 rounds, one 9mm pistol with an empty magazine, five hand grenades, ten live rounds of INSAS Rifle, two live rounds of 9mm, one helmet, one detonator, and one bulletproof vest.

The recovered items have been handed over to Wangoo police station.
