This arrest follows the successful dismantling of three illegal hideouts or bunkers found in the Zero Point area of Kangpokpi district.

Imphal: In a major operation, a combined force of central and state security forces ramped up efforts to combat anti-social activities in Manipur’s Kangpokpi district.

This resulted in the arrest of an extortionist and the destruction of three illegally constructed bunkers, police officials informed on Sunday.

The joint team apprehended one individual, identified as 24-year-old Sathaolen Kilong, in the general area between Kalapahar and Bongmol Village.

Kilong is suspected of extorting money from truck drivers near Bongmol Village along NH-102. A search yielded a synthetic leather purse containing Rs. 4100/- in cash and a mobile phone.

This arrest follows the successful dismantling of three illegal hideouts or bunkers found in the Zero Point area of Kangpokpi district on Saturday.

No arrests have been made yet in connection with the bunkers, police added.

The arrested individual and recovered items have been handed over to the relevant police stations for further investigation and legal proceedings.
