Maram Battalion of 10 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of Inspector General of Assam Rifles (South) conducted Ex-Servicemen Rally and Medical Camp for ex-servicemen and veer naris of Ukhrul, Kangpokpi and Senapati districts of Manipur at Maram on Monday, according to Assam Rifles sources.
Maram is small hill town located about 80 km north of Imphal in Senapati district along the busy National Highway 2.

A total of 110 veterans, 88 widow/ladies including veer naris and 12 dependents attended in the day’s Ex-Servicemen Rally wherein Brigadier Mohit Seth, Commander of 10 Sector Assam Rifles and Colonel V M Nithani, Commandant 38 Assam Rifles addressed the gathering.
The event was utilized to discuss the grievances of ex- servicemen including pension anomalies, the Assam Rifles (South) PRO stated in a release.
The veterans were informed about various government schemes and benefits, re-employment opportunities and about the ongoing Army recruitment rally at Churachandpur which would benefit them and their families, it added.

A medical camp was also organized to facilitate medical aid to veterans and their dependants.
The medical camp was conducted by Chief Medical Officer, Maram Battalion and the medical team including dental doctors.
Around 200 people were screened and provided requisite medicines at the camp.
The event also utilized to facilitate veterans in preparation of various documents, it added.
Counters were set up for Aadhaar card, PAN card, State Bank of India greviences and schemes information and counter by Horticulture & Fisheries department to inform about latest schemes.
At the end, veer naris was felicitated and this was followed by lunch with the veterans.
