Imphal: A team of security forces and Manipur police recovered a cache of hidden weapons sacked in a plastic bag at the foothills of the inter-village road in Bishnupur, Manipur, police said on Friday.
Following intelligence reports of suspicious activities, the team initiated a search operation and discovered the weapons from the general foothill areas of the inter-village road (IVR) between Aigejang village and Uyok in Bishnupur District.

The operation ended with the recovery of a white colour sack with a Colt machine gun, a tear gas gun, a 9mm pistol with a magazine, 14 live rounds, a .303 sniper rifle, and an SBBL.
The joint team also retrieved explosive items including one IED weighing 1.35 kg, three hand grenades, two tear smoke grenades, one 36-grenade arming ring, a tear smoke shell normal, one tear smoke shell soft nose and other items.

They further added that one Baofeng radio set, two blank rounds, five anti-riot rubber bullets, three 1A launching tubes, assorted tear gas shells, two WP grenades and two wood piercing shells were also recovered.
The confiscated items were handed over to the Nambol police station.
