Imphal: The Manipur government announced multiple development projects and welfare schemes for Pherzawl, the stateโ€™s least developed district bordering Myanmar, Assam, and Mizoram, predominantly inhabited by the Kuk-Zo-Hmar-Mozo tribes.

The announcement was made on the 77th Republic Day as Deputy Commissioner Mannuamching unfurled the National Flag and took the salute from parade contingents led by SDPO Parbung Jangkholen Haokip at Pherzawl Public Ground.

She outlined ongoing and proposed projects, including the expansion survey of Tipaimukh Road (NH-102), completion of boysโ€™ and girlsโ€™ hostels, construction of an Eklavya Model Residential School at Loibual, a District Transport Office, a working womenโ€™s hostel, a proposed Community College, and a Mini-Secretariat.

Referring to national welfare schemes such as Ayushman Bharat, PM-KISAN, PMKSY, ICDS, the Right to Education Act, and employment guarantee programmes, she stressed their role in social security and inclusive growth.

She urged youth to focus on education and skills, avoid substance abuse, and contribute positively to society, emphasising that true development also lies in empowering people.

The Deputy Commissioner also spoke on improvements in health and drinking water infrastructure, plans for a district hospital, progress under the Jal Jeevan Mission and New Development Bank (BRICS) schemes, and steps to strengthen financial inclusion through new bank branches.

She described the Constitution as the backbone of democracy, calling for gender equality, womenโ€™s safety, and quality education for children.

Certificates of appreciation were awarded to 47 individuals for outstanding service, while departments showcased initiatives, including a SVEEP Help Desk for voter services. The programme concluded with cultural performances celebrating unity in diversity.
