The discussions focused on administrative and developmental challenges, with a particular emphasis on the urgent need for appointing a regular Vice-Chancellor and Registrar, which has prompted student agitation.
According to a statement from Raj Bhavan, Manipur Governor Uikey expressed deep concern over the difficulties faced by students due to the absence of these key administrative positions.
She sought detailed updates on the recruitment status of teaching and non-teaching staff.

Manipur education minister Th Basantakumar Singh assured the governor that the results of recent processes would be declared soon and that steps to nominate a University Grants Commission (UGC) member for the Vice-Chancellor appointment would be initiated promptly.
Manipur chief secretary Dr Vineet Joshi briefed the governor on the progress of recruiting a new Vice-Chancellor, stating that an advertisement for the position would be released shortly.
He also mentioned that arrangements for appointing a new Registrar were underway.
The Manipur governor asked the officials to expedite resolutions to all student and faculty-related issues.
She also inquired about the status of students residing in relief camps and directed the Chief Secretary to take necessary actions for their welfare.
Furthermore, the Manipur governor discussed the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 across universities and colleges in the state.
She directed the officials to organize regular meetings involving all central, state, and private universities at Raj Bhavan to ensure smooth coordination and progress.
