“Manipur government will try to persuade the Centre for upgrading Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) to the level of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS),” infomred Manipur health minister L Jayantakumar Singh on Thursday.
He was addressing the media on the sidelines of the 25th-anniversary celebration of LYS Group at Manipur State Film Development Society (MSFDS) in Imphal.

“Union health minister Dr Harsh Vardhan is slated to visit Manipur on Friday and then we would put forward our request and try and convince the minister for the desired up-gradation,” Singh added.
On Friday, the union health minister will attend the 48th foundation day of RIMS and also sit on a meeting with RIMS authorities.
“We would also request the union minister to revamp the state-owned Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS),” Singh further infomred.
