As part of continuing the Manipur government’s initiative to reach the unreached, the district administration of Tamenlong organized ‘Go to village’ campaign at the community hall of Namkaolong (Keikao) Village in Tamenlong which is located about 140 km west of Imphal.
Three villages of the hill district namely Namkaolong, Sempang and Sangrungpang were covered in the day’s campaign.

Initially the State Government plans to adopt a new approach under the ‘Go to village’ campaign to help the farmers increase crop production considering the issues of crop failures in the State which not only affects the farmers but also the economy of the State, considering the large scale crop failure in the past due to flood and landslides.
But later the campaign incorporates other activities besides identifying the eligible and deserving beneficiaries and deliver government services at their doorsteps.
In his brief introductory speech, Deputy Commissioner Ravinder Singh of Tamenglong district described the objective of the ‘Go to village’ programme to the villagers who attended the day’s programme.

On the other hand addressing the gathering, the nodal officer of ‘Go to village’ mission of Tamenglong T Panmei said the mission is a kind of review meeting of government schemes dealing directly with the people to give awareness and benefits of various schemes to those who were deprived of their rights and benefits.
One of the most essential projects demanded by the villagers could be implemented by the government for each village of Tamenlong District through the ‘Go to village’ mission.
Medical department also conducted medical camp and distributed free medicines to the people who attended the programme while concerned departments issued Scheduled Tribes, Domicile, Permanent Residential and Income certificates to the needy villagers.
Zonal Education Officer of the Tamenlong district also distributed library books for Namkaolong, Sempang and Sangrungpang schools.
The officials of the government departments who took part in the day’s programme explained the various kinds of benefits to be provided to the people through the government schemes and projects.
The people will get the benefits from the district level offices of social welfare, electricity, consumer affairs, food and public distributions, forest, common service centre, water supply, aadhaar, labour, CSC, education, handloom and medical etc.
The chairman and the secretary of the concerned villages also submitted various memoranda to the nodal officer of the campaign of Tamenlong District.
The villagers who attended the programme also expressed gratitude to the government officials for taking up this initiative besides ensuring timely delivery of the respective services. More than 500 people attended in the day’s programme.
