Imphal: As part of the ongoing observance of National Road Safety Month 2026, a free eye check-up camp for all drivers was organized by the Office of the Chief Medical Officer in Manipur’s Churachandpur district on Friday.
The event was held under the supervision of eye specialist Dr. Ginthianmung, District Nodal Officer (DNO) for the National Programme for Control of Blindness and Visual Impairment (NPCB & VI), National Health Mission (NHM), Churachandpur.
The camp saw a significant turnout of commercial vehicle drivers who came to have their eyes tested. The doctor primarily checked vision and color vision, aiming to promote road safety, reduce accidents, and save lives by detecting and addressing vision problems early.
During the camp, Dr. Ginthianmung stressed the importance of regular eye examinations for drivers and advised them to prioritize eye health to prevent vision-related accidents and ensure safer roads.
The Chief Medical Officer stated that visual health is not just a personal concern but a public responsibility.
The event aimed to promote road safety and maintain driversโ eye health, ultimately contributing to accident prevention in the Churachandpur district.
The camp, approved by the Medical Superintendent, sought to ensure that drivers, especially those operating passenger and commercial vehicles, maintain optimal vision, a critical factor for safe driving.
