Imphal: A joint team of central security forces and state police arrested four cadres from different insurgent groups, including two women, during anti-insurgency and anti-extortion operations in two valley districts.
Officials reported on Thursday that four communication devices and several forged identification documents, including fake Aadhaar cards, were recovered during the operations.
Chingakham (Ningol) Ningthoujam (O) Rebika Devi (43) of Churachandpur district, currently sheltering at New Lambulane Lane-III, Porompat PS, Imphal East district, was arrested from her residence on Wednesday. She is associated with the National Revolutionary Front of Manipur (NRFM).
Police stated that another female insurgent, Nongthombam Abesana Devi, also known as Machan (21) of Huikap Makha Leikai, Imphal East district, was apprehended from her residence under Andro PS. She is an active woman cadre of the banned Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP-MFL).
During the third phase of the operation, security forces arrested an active cadre of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA), identified as Bungcha Thoudam, also called Khamba (30) of Singjamei Makha Khongnang Pheidekpi, Singjamei PS, Imphal West district. He was captured from his residence, and a mobile phone was seized from him.
The police further reported that an extortionist, a KCP (Taibanganba) active cadre named Senjam Premjit Singh (38) of Langthabal Khunou Mamang Leikai, Thoubal district, was also apprehended from his locality.
