Imphal: Four alleged cadres of different underground outfits were arrested and a cache of arms and ammunition was recovered during coordinated operations by security forces and Manipur Police across the valley districts over the past 36 hours.
Among those arrested was an alleged extortionist of the Socialist Revolutionary Party (SOREPA), Shamjetshabam Kokfai Meitei (26), who was apprehended from Kakching Khunou Umathel Mathak Leikai in Kakching district.
An alleged cadre of the Kanglei Yaol Kanna Lup (KYKL), Konsam Oken Meitei alias Maijao alias Malemnganba alias Bode (36), was arrested from Wangjing Sabal Leikai under Khongjom Police Station in Thoubal district.
Security forces also arrested Wangkheirakpam Romeo Meitei alias Baruni alias Koubru (45), an alleged recruiter and cadre of the People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak-Progressive (PREPAK-Pro), from his locality under Porompat Police Station in Imphal East district.
In another operation, RK Bothoi alias Amit alias Sinthangamba (30), an alleged cadre of the National Revolutionary Front Manipur (NRFM), was arrested at Yairipok Kakmayai Lamkhai under Nongpok Sekmai Police Station in Thoubal district. A .32 pistol, a magazine and three live rounds were recovered from his possession.
In a separate operation, security forces recovered three AK rifles, a 9 mm pistol, four magazines, 37 live rounds of various calibres and two Baofeng wireless handsets from an isolated stretch between Phayeng and Kharang Koireng/Tairenpokpi under Lamsang Police Station in Imphal West district.
