IMPHAL: Four persons were apprehended in operations launched by the central and state forces in Manipur and a huge cache of arms, ammunition, and other war-like stores were recovered at different hideouts of the armed village volunteers across the state during the past 36 hours, officials said on Thursday.

Acting on specific intelligence regarding the presence of arms and ammunition in the villages of Songpi and Thoroilok, in Churachabdpur district, security forces launched a cordon and search operation and recovered one 9mm Pistol, one Pt 303 Rifle, one 12mm Bore gun, one improvised Mortar two 9mm Carbine Machine guns, one Shotgun, one Point 22 Automatic Rifle, one 9mm Pistol, nine Single Barrel Rifles, two Improvised Mortars, ammunition and war like stores.
The arrested individuals, recovered weapons and an impounded car have been promptly handed over to Manipur police for further legal actions, the report added.
