Manipur: Five, including two women, held with Heroin worth Rs 50 lakh

IMPHAL: Five individuals, including two women were arrested on charge of unauthorised possession of suspected heroin powder during a raid in Manipur during the past 24 hours, the police said on Saturday (April 27).

Around 238 grams of heroin powder worth around 50 lakhs in the local black markets reportedly smuggled into Manipur from Myanmar were recovered from them.

These illegal items were concealed in 20 separate soap cases.

The arrested individuals were later identified as Wahida Bebi (49), Ruksana Begum (21), Md Abarar (30), Yumnam Ajit Kumar Singh and Pebam Maheshor Singh (38).

Manipur police refused to inform from where the arrests and seizures were made as more raids and operations are on the cards as follow-up actions.

The arrested persons and seized items have been handed over to the concerned police stations for further legal actions, the police added.
