FC Goa has signed ATK Mohun Bagan goalkeeper Dheeraj Singh Moirangthem.
FC Goa reached an agreement with ATK Mohun Bagan for the transfer of the footballer from Manipur on a three-year deal, says a media report.
The 20-year-old footballer represented India at the FIFA U-17 World Cup in 2017 and then trialled at Scottish Premiership club Motherwell FC.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi while sharing a joint picture with the youngster in a tweet on November 10, 2017, said: “Many teams fail to score against India because of the formidable presence of Dheeraj Singh Moirangthem. He has played 50 matches for India.”
Dheeraj came through the ranks of the All India Football Federation’s developmental team Indian Arrow.
In 2019, Dheeraj was called up by the national head coach Igor Stimac for the FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Afghanistan and Oman.
Dheeraj made his Indian Super League (ISL) debut with Kerala Blasters FC in 2018.
He made 13 appearances for Kerala Blasters FC.
In Goa FC, Dheeraj is looking forward to replace Mohammed Nawaz who is likely to join Hyderabad FC.
