Imphal: The Manipur Government has directed that those government employees who are not attending office(s) owing to the direction of the Indigenous Tribal Leaders’ Forum (ITLF) would be enforced, ‘No work, No pay’.

The government’s move came after the Indigenous Tribal Leaders’ Forum (ITLF) announced that all state government offices within the Churachandpur district will remain closed from Monday until further notice.

Vineet Joshi, Chief Secretary, Government of Manipur, in an order issued, said, “The State Government has seen a public notice issued by ITLF stating that all State Government offices will be closed from Monday until further notice.”

The State Government according to officials, “views” the matter very seriously with utmost sensitivity as the same act is illegal and the notice so issued is without any Authority.

In case of any violation of the government orders, the person(s) concerned without any exception shall be booked and prosecuted under the relevant provisions of the law of the land for the time being in force.

‘No work, No pay’ shall also be enforced by all the State Government Offices/institutions against those employees who do not attend their official duty without authorized leave.

All Central and State Government Authorities and Management Authorities of institutions/establishments/Autonomous bodies are also advised to ensure strict attendance of staff and students as usual.

Notably, ITLF served an ultimatum to the government to rescind the suspension order of Head Constable Siamlalpaul and replace Superintendent of Police Shivanand Surve and Deputy Commissioner S Dharun Kumar.
