Imphal: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has launched Phase 3 of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls across 16 states, including Manipur, to clean and update voter records.
The stateโs revision drive will officially begin on May 20, 2026, with house-to-house verification scheduled from May 30 to June 28.
The ECI has announced the third phase of SIR to be conducted across 16 states and three Union Territories, including the northeastern states of Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, and Tripura.
According to an official press release from the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), the revision process in Manipur will commence on May 20, with July 1, 2026, designated as the qualifying date.
To ensure accurate data, approximately 2,996 Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will conduct house-to-house verification and enumeration across the state from May 30 to June 28.
Preliminary preparations, including official training and printing of enumeration documents, will take place from May 20 to May 29, while the rationalisation of polling stations is slated for completion by June 28.
The draft electoral roll will be published on July 5, after which citizens can submit claims and objections until August 4.
The disposal of these claims will continue until September 2, paving the way for the final electoral roll to be published on September 6, 2026.
The Commission has appealed to all eligible electors to actively participate in the revision drive and submit their enumeration forms.
During this phase, BLOs will conduct door-to-door visits, assisted by Booth Level Agents (BLAs) appointed by political parties to ensure transparency.
