Election commission asks DCs, SPs to prepare for Manipur Assembly polls

The election commission has asked deputy commissioners (DCs) and SPs of all districts to start preparations for the upcoming Manipur Assembly polls in the state. 

Manipur chief electoral officer (CEO)  Rajesh Agarwal, on Monday, asked the DCs and SPs of all districts in the state to prepare an election management plan for their respective districts for smooth conduct of the Assembly polls.

The Manipur CEO was said this while briefing the DCs and SPs during the review meeting on election preparedness for Assembly polls in the state next year. 

Agarwal also informed that a team of the election commission of India (ECI) is likely to visit Manipur in January.

The Manipur CEO also said that the election process will get over by March 19, 2022. 

“Everything needs to be in place by the time Assembly elections in the state is conducted,” Manipur CEO Rajesh Agarwal said. 

Meanwhile, nodal officer for law and order – Manipur additional DGP – L Kailun highlighted the importance of maintaining law and order in the state especially during elections.  

Kailun also asked the officials to keep a tab on the rising trends of political clashes in the state.
