The attack took place around 5:15 AM at Ningthemkhunou, a predominantly Meitei area near the Kuki-dominated Kangpokpi district.

According to a teenage girl who witnessed the incident, the militants entered her family’s home, overpowered her and her mother, and then proceeded to shoot her father while he was asleep.

The assailants fled the scene with the stolen gold and cash, leaving the girl and her mother in shock.

The incident has marked a disturbing escalation in the ongoing ethnic violence in Manipur, as it is the first reported case of a sleeping individual being killed and robbed.

Manipur police are investigating the matter, and efforts are underway to apprehend the perpetrators. The incident has caused widespread fear and sorrow among the locals.
