IMPHAL: Students of Dhanamanjuri University in Manipur began a relay hunger strike on campus, demanding the appointment of a permanent Vice Chancellor and Registrar.
The absence of regular administrative staff for the past six years has significantly disrupted academic progress.

Participants in the hunger strike include undergraduate and postgraduate students, as well as research scholars.
The protest, organized by the Dhanamanjuri University Students’ Union (DMSU), is taking place at the university’s western gate.
“The university has not had regular staff for the past six years,” said Irom Dimocha Singh, president of the DMSU, in a statement to the press.

He stated that the strike would continue until their demands are met.
The students initiated the hunger strike three days after submitting a memorandum to Manipur governor Anusuiya Uikey at the Raj Bhavan in Imphal.
The Manipur governor assured the students that she would address their grievances promptly by organizing a meeting with the relevant authorities.
Dhanamanjuri University in Manipur officially began operations on April 6, 2018.
The university comprises DM College of Science, DM College of Arts, DM College of Commerce, G.P. Women’s College, and LMS Law College, all of which share adjacent or nearby physical spaces.
