Imphal: Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla on Friday presided over the first convocation ceremony of Dhanamanjuri University (DMU), Imphal, and conferred degrees on undergraduate and postgraduate students from various disciplines for the academic years 2020 to 2024.
The convocation, held eight years after the institution was granted university status in 2018, marked a key milestone in DMUโs academic and institutional journey.
Addressing the gathering, the Governor expressed satisfaction over the large physical participation of graduating students. He said a convocation was not merely an academic ritual but a celebration of perseverance, learning and achievement, made meaningful by the sacrifices and support of families.
Bhalla said the graduates would now serve as ambassadors of the university and urged them to uphold its values through their conduct, competence and character wherever they go.
He noted that Dhanamanjuri University has made significant progress in recent years, particularly in infrastructure development, quality of academic delivery, graduation outcomes and institutional governance, reflecting a positive trajectory.
Highlighting the evolving role of universities in a rapidly changing world, the Governor said higher education institutions must equip students not only with academic knowledge but also with adaptability, ethical judgement and a spirit of lifelong learning, while remaining rooted in the cultural and social context of Manipur.
Reiterating the Manipur governmentโs commitment to developing DMU into a strong and vibrant centre of higher learning, Bhalla encouraged the graduating students to serve society and the nation with integrity and dedication. He also extended his best wishes for their future endeavours.
