Imphal: A 32-year-old Manipur Police constable was found dead in his official quarters at the Langol Housing Complex in Imphal West district on Saturday.
The deceased, identified as S Ramreishang, was posted as escort personnel to the Director General of Manipur Police (Law and Order). He was found hanging from a ceiling fan inside the quarter allotted by the Home Department under the jurisdiction of Lamphel police station.
According to police, the incident came to light around 7:30 am after Ramreishang’s wife informed the concerned police station. A police team subsequently reached the spot and shifted the body to the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal, for post-mortem examination.
His wife told police that no suicide note was found at the scene.
An unnatural death case has been registered, and further investigation is underway to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident.
