Imphal: Manipur Director General of Police (DGP) Mukesh Singh, accompanied by Additional DGP (Law and Order), visited the southern border district of Tengnoupal on July 24 to review security preparedness, policing and inter-agency coordination.
The visit followed a memorandum submitted to the Governor on July 15 by representatives of the Tamil Sangam, Gorkha Sena and the Manipuri Muslim Council (Moreh), citing severe hardships, including shortages of medicines and essential commodities caused by the ongoing economic blockade.
At the Tengnoupal District Police Office, the DGP reviewed the overall security situation. Interacting with district police officers, he stressed the need for sustained operations against anti-national elements, thorough investigation of cases, intensified anti-drug drives, recovery of illegal arms, and close coordination among security forces.
During his visit to Moreh, the DGP met representatives of the Tamil community and civil society organisations (CSOs). He also held high-level coordination meetings with commandants and officers of the 36 Assam Rifles, 3 Assam Rifles and Manipur Police Commandos to review operational preparedness, border management and coordination among security forces.
He also inspected security arrangements at Moreh Gate No. 1 and Gate No. 2.
On his return, the DGP visited Kwatha village, where he interacted with Meitei residents, district police personnel, Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) personnel and Assam Rifles personnel.
