Manipur cyclist Philem Rohan Singh on Wednesday embarked on a nine-day cycling journey from Jammu to Greater Noida with an aim to raise funds for the jawans killed in the Pulwama terror attack.

The long cycling tour was flagged off by senior IPS officer Basant Rath, according to reports.

Singh said that his destination is Sharda University located in Greater Noida and is doing the cycling tour to raise awareness about the armed forces and spread the message of humanity.

He plans to complete his cycling tour within nine days. It is his fourth official cycling tour carried out in spreading the message of humanity.

The cyclist had travelled 9000 km across the country in the past to carry out various kinds of goodwill mission.

IPS officer Rath praised the efforts of the cyclist and said that he is an inspiration for the youths of the nation.

Hailing from Moirang in Manipur, Singh is a postgraduate student of English at Sharda University.

Earlier, Singh had cycled from India Gate in New Delhi to Imphal in Manipur with an aim to create awareness for a pollution-free nation.

He had also pedalled his way from Manipur to Kolkata with a message of unity in diversity, campaigning anti-drug and anti-pollution.

Singh also cycled from Noida to Imphal in 35 days for propagating the cause of the sangai, the brow-antlered deer.

He also led a 10-member team of cyclists from Koirengei, Imphal, to Keibul Lamjao national park in Bishnupur district on the eve of the Sangai Festival, carrying the message of the festival to promote tourism in Manipur.
