The total number of COVID19 positive cases in Manipur increased to 7,731 including 5,930 from the general population on Saturday.

In the last 24 hours, 123 persons, including 70 males and 53 females from the general population and 29 Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) personnel, were confirmed as new COVID19 positive cases, said Covid 19 Common Control Room, Imphal.

The positive cases were detected in the VRDL of the RIMS, JNIMS and other testing centres.

The infected persons are from Churachandpur, Thoubal, Imphal West, Imphal East, Bishnupur, Kakching, Chandel, Jiribam, Noney and Ukhrul districts, the Covid 19 Common Control Room, Imphal, said in a press release.

The 14 infected persons of the general population are returnees from other states and the rest 109 are local residents without any significant travel history, the release added.

In the last 24 hours, 100 persons were discharged from various COVID care facilities.

The cumulative number of discharged cases is 6,102, the release stated.

The number of active cases is 1,584 including 300 CAPF personnel.

The recovery rate in the State is 78.92%, it added.

As of Saturday, 3,60, 794 persons were screened at various entry points of the state while 1,88,526 individuals were tested for COVID19 at various testing centres, official sources said.
