The total number of COVID-19 positive cases in Manipur reached 2,176 cases while the total active and recovered cases stand at 656 and 1520, according to official sources.

Thirty persons were confirmed as new COVID-19 positive cases at Virus Research & Diagnosis Laboratories of Regional Institute of Medical Sciences, Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences, District Hospitals of Thoubal and Ukhrul during the past 24 hours, health authority sources said on Saturday.

All excluding three persons are returnees from other states, it said.

All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.

On the other hand, 29 persons have been discharged from COVID care facility RIMS, COVID care centres of Meitram, R D Wing Lamphel, Ukhrul, Churachandpur, Senapati and Chandel in the past 24 hours.

As of Saturday, 315,654 people were screened at various entry points of the State while 76,992 samples were tested for COVID-19, sources added.

As per the report, 59,327 people have completed their quarantine while 3,046 were still at various quarantine centres in the State.

Meanwhile, the state consultative committee for COVID-19 meeting held in Imphal on Saturday decided to tighten the lockdown in the State.

The meeting was attended by chief minister N Biren Singh in the chair.
