Manipur chief minister N Biren Singh on Monday reviewed the deteriorating Covid-19 situation in the state during a meeting in Imphal.

Singh discussed the ground situation with senior health officials during the review meeting.

He also took important decisions regarding social gathering, partial lockdowns, opening of market places and holding of official programmes amidst the ongoing second wave of Covid-19 infections in India.

The chief minister also reviewed the availability of adequate manpower in hospitals to attend to the rising number of positive cases across the state.

The Manipur government has already imposed a night curfew in all districts from 7 pm to 5 m every day.

All social gatherings have been banned with the exception of unavoidable gatherings like funerals, marriages and time-bound religious rituals.

However, the number of people attending such occasions has been limited to 20 only.

Meanwhile, 72 people have tested positive for Covid-19 on Sunday, taking the total positive cases in Manipur 29,721.

There are 225 active cases in the state at resent.

The disease has claimed 376 lives in the state so far.
