Guwahati: Assam Rifles intensified its campaigns against the anti-socials after the Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh and Director General of Assam Rifles discussed maintaining a sense of security with a commitment to enforcing law and order and protecting the lives and properties of citizens.
According to a statement of the Defense wing, acting on specific intelligence of the presence of arms and ammunition, the Assam Rifles, along with a team of BSF and Manipur Police launched an operation.

It successfully yielded with the recovery of weapons caches in the general area of the Waikhong village of Chandel district, Manipur, on Wednesday, (August 21, 2024). During the operation, the team recovered one 51mm mortar, four grenades, ammunition, and war-like stores. The recovered items were handed over to Manipur Police.
Ahead of this operation, Lt Gen Vikas Lakhera, DG AR accompanied by Maj General, Ravroop Singh, IGAR (South) called on the Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Sing at his official secretariat.
On his social media, the Manipur Chief Minister writes, “Deliberated on various progressive activities undertaken by the Assam Rifles while stressing the necessity to work in the general public’s interest and aspirations of the State Government towards the welfare of the people.”
