Imphal: Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh has announced the “path of progress” for Tamenglong, one of the least developed districts of the state sharing borders with Nagaland on the north and Assam in the West.
N Biren Singh announced the completion of various projects including sports infrastructure, water supply scheme, food security, and road projects in respect of Tamenglong.

He said that the completed Water Supply Scheme under the Non-Lapsable Central Pool of Resources (NLCPR) in the Tamenglong district has greatly benefitted the local population.
“Ensuring food security in the district and assisting local growers and farmers in maintaining a steady supply of produce & various food products, the completed Cold Storage and FCI Godown have taken a major role in Tamenglong district’s economic growth getting access to safe, drinking water,” Manipur CM wrote on his social media.
Among the major road projects in the Tamenglong district, the NH-137 Khongsang-Tamenglong section has been completed while significant progress is being made with the NH-137 Tamenglong-Mahur section and Imphal-Kangchup-Tamenglong road, the CM stated. These road projects reflect our commitment to transforming the district by enhancing connectivity and unlocking growth and sustenance in the region.

The installation of the 7-a-side synthetic football turf in Tamenglong district is completed and will be soon inaugurated to help nurture young talents and produce many promising players from the district.
Similar sports infrastructure is being installed in other districts across the state to promote games, hobbies, and fitness through sporting activities.
N Biren added, “I am pleased with the progress made in installing the Natural Football Ground in Tamenglong district. Besides providing necessary space for practicing and organizing games, the ground will also be used to host various events and activities in the district.”
